THIS RECIPE IS GLUTEN-FREE & PALEO.
Creamy Paleo Oatmeal
I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to my morning routine. I love my mornings, and I love my routine. Regardless of where I am, I try my best to stick to it.
My morning routine goes something like this:
- Chug a glass of water with lime juice.
- Make coffee. Lie back in bed until it’s brewed.
- Pour coffee. Sip coffee.
- Prepare oatmeal while sipping coffee.
- Sit on couch in my “nook” with laptop, phone, coffee and oatmeal.
- Plan my day while drinking coffee and eating oatmeal, all while (ideally) speaking to no one. Mute.
- 1 hour of physical activity.
- Only then, can I ‘start my day’.
My coffee and oatmeal routine in conjunction with the 45-60 minutes I allow to consume it, is an important part of my, well…let’s say, “movement” routine. It gets things moving, allowing me to feel spry and ready to rock the day ahead.
I have played around with my oatmeal recipe numerous times now, and I feel as though I have finally figured out the secret ingredients to making it rich and creamy with a similar texture you get from “real” oatmeal.
My two secret ingredients to Creamy Paleo Oatmeal with perfect texture:
- Creaminess = coconut flour
- Texture = sunflour seeds
As the photo shows, I’ve left the oatmeal as a blank canvas.
Here’s a few topping suggestions based on the level of activity in your day ahead:
- Activity Level: none = oatmeal as is
- Activity Level: 1 hour or less of activity = fresh berries
- Activity Level: 1 hour or more of activity = dried fruit
What I used to make this recipe:

To Make 1 Portion: add all ingredients except fruit to a microwave safe bowl (no need to stir).
-
Microwave for 3 minutes.
-
Remove from microwave and whisk with a fork until banana is mixed through and consistency is creamy.
-
Garnish with berries and serve while hot.
-
Store Dry Mix in a mason jar with a tight fitting lid, in a cool, dry place.
When shopping for ingredients, I try and stick to the 'Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen' rule when it comes to buying organic fruits and vegetables. I have listed all ingredients simply by name, and have left off words such as "organic", "grass fed", "free-run" etc. I encourage you to do your own research and consume what works best for you.
